So a little while ago i read something about using buffer~ to store a list and then reading it from inside gen~, and now im trying to find more information as to how i could implement this, my goal is to build a delay circuit whose time is changed every time the input passes a certain threshold, i made a list of the numbers i want to use as time but am unsure as how to proceed so as to be able to store the list in the buffer~ , and then everytime the audio input signal goes above a certain threshold a number from the list is chosen at random then this number is used as the value for the delay time.

I'm rather new to programming, and I've been testing out making an additive synth with codebox in gen~. To generate all of the partials, I figured it would be best to use a for loop to call a function for each partial at their respective frequencies and amplitudes. It sounds really crazy  when I do that, it seems like it gives me one sine wave at a really high frequency. 

When I call a function for each partial individually and add and assign at the output (like out += sine1, 2, 3...) it works fine.

and I saw that the allpass filters and comb filters are described in the following way:

I see this kind of approach in all genExpr codes. But can't we write this something similar to this? (ignore vec since it doesn't work in gen dsp apparently, take it as a pseudo-code):

In addition,  array structures are not available on genExpr. Doesn't this create an extreme handicap, how do you all overcome this? 

Sidenote: I also would appreciate if anyone has an online resource for genExpr Syntax. The documentation doesn't seem to cover all the capabilities.

Hi! I'm trying to implement reverse delay on a different project that I have. Last week I have implemented different algorithms, but in all of them I have been dealing with weird clicks.To help demonstrate the problem I'm facing, I have build a very basic reverse delay here.... with a fixed buffer of sample rate size (so, 1 second), with variable time (difference between read and write starting position). Feedback control and mix between wet & dry. I've been using a single data object buffer, with poke and peek. I've tried different interpolations on peek, and have stick with linear or cubic. I also have a boundmode wrap at peek.

I'm attaching my code here, so you guys can check. The click is not SO pronounced... but I would like to remove it if possible.

I'm brand new to genexpr and text-coding in general, this is mostly just an experiment to see how much I can figure it out.

I'm adapting a slew limiter (to use as an envelope) from a visual patch into a function in codebox. I specifically want to use it as a function, and to input it into other functions to change the shape of the slopes, etc. (which are also in the patch below). I have 3 versions, one visual, one codebox, and the last is my attempt to make a function out of the codebox code.

The visual patch takes the "done" stage by patching it to an outlet, and the first codebox does the same thing by "out2 = done;". Basically I'm just wondering how to do the same thing, but tapping it from within the function. I've got the envelope itself working.

I've spent the last 2 hours trying to figure it out and looking around online lol.

I prob missed this in the forums and tutorials.

I have a master phasor outside Gen locked to Ableton, triggering stuff and resets to Gen phasors.

I was trying to use what~ and where~ to send something to Gen, perhaps a line before the reset.  Ideally I'd like to modify the last cycle 's speed in gen before the reset to try and reach .25 on a  downward slope to match the reset. Mainly very slow lfo's I'm dealing with.

Gen still hurts me abit, either from struggling to get used to the per sample world, or from smacking myself in forehead when I realize how simple something was the whole time. Putting my foam hat on for this one again.

Seems like I can't get phasor to sync by resetting its phase.

What am I doing wrong? Can someone please explain, as I've spent hours and just don't get it: how the right inlet of phasor is supposed to work at all? (gen help file, unlike the rest of the Max help files, are very obscure to me)
