So I want to create a new version of an existing Project, and rename it incrementally.

Eg - I have a Project called Gr8.477 open. 

I want to create an incremental version to make some changes (Gr8.48), so I go to "File/Save as Project" in the top menus.

In the file dialogue that opens, the Save As text box says (Save As:) Gr8.477.477 !!

If I alter the new file name to Gr8.48 & save it, I get a Finder folder called Gr8.48.477.477 containing a Project file with the same extended name, and a patcher file with the same name. If I rename these 3 items to the name I actually want, the Project doesn't open properly (that _doesn't surprise me).

It's been doing this since Max 9. In previous versions it would just show the existing file name without the extra numbers (ie Gr8.477), I could rename it in the Save dialogue and it would create the new Project as I expected.

Is this some new file saving (or Project saving) behaviour that I can disable, or is it a bug?

I had this RNBO~ export to AU plugin that worked well as needed for a personal project and recently the exported version stopped functioning and I can't figure out what happened here. Something must have changed with RNBO that I missed? I recently did an update from version I Don't Know Unfortunately and something has changed. Anyway, here's the details.

Firstly, the RNBO began putting out a full signal +67.9db on initialization. [scope~] out from RNBO shows a flat DC output. I have no idea what changed. No changes were made to an older saved version and this behavior happened with that as well. So either an RNBO change or a bug? Clueless.

Secondly, the object [param RateHz 4.5 @minimum 0.1 @maximum 16 @displayname Rate @unit hz @tonormalized log2(value / 20) / 10 @displayorder 5] is no longer compiling to AU properly. In the AU plugin version the initial value is displayed as "Rate .1" and cannot be changed. Previously this was not the case. (edit: I changed the order of attributed so that @tonormalized was the last attribute and THAT worked fine, audio still borked)

Thirdly, the compiled version shows up as Stereo or Dual Mono. I'm not sure how this is implemented but this should be a patch-maker settable flag?

I'm working on a live show where I'm playing the score for film live, building it in loops & layers and also semi live-editing the accompanying video. 

One thing I've needed to do is to be able to hit a different midi pads throughout my setup that each can send a trigger to Resolume (VJ software) to play the next column of visuals on the next beat #1. Resolume has a device called Parameter Forwarder that sends a signal from Ableton to Resolume, so I've just created a very simple patch that can send the Parameter Forwarder a bang immediately when I hit a midi pad, or have the bang wait until the next beat #1. 

I am a total Max noob, but I figured it out enough to create a very basic patch and get it working most of the time, but there are still a few gremlins in the patch that are coming back to haunt me now that I'm starting to play the show for people live. Here are the issues: 

I've asked ChatGPT which had some thoughts but honestly I don't understand Max well enough to be able to implement the ideas. I would love to learn Max fully someday but I'm really daunted by the thought of it currently. I'd be super grateful for any insight you have. This patch is really important to this show that I'm making and I'd be happy to pay someone for their time helping me to make it more robust. I'd also be happy to do some kind of skill swap, I've learned a ton about Ableton and Resolume for this show and have been a filmmaker & video editor for 15 years in case any of that is helpful to you! 

Here is the patch that I created. I've also attached a photo showing how it's setup in Ableton. (First row are midi mappable buttons that send a next column signal to Resolume, second row of big circles send a next columnn signal to Resolume on the next beat #1)

I have a patch that uses JS, on different systems it crashes Ableton Live, but I found that if you open the patch edit mode, this device works fine. 

What could be the problem of such behavior? Help me to figure it out.

 at all. Since I don't know its internal architecture I have no means of understanding what might be messing with it. The current patch in question has many dependencies, mostly JS-files. I somehow assume something is happening during load of the project, but it is total guesswork and speculation. Anyone else experienced this? Let alone fixes?

Hello, I want to use mgraphics offscreen (not jsui) to pipe into a jit.gl.pbr texture.  I need to maintain the transparency.  I have this working using in a jsui using a modified version of Darwin Gross's patch-a-day (

). But when I try translating the same thing using to use an offscreen context of mgraphics I'm not able to clear the screen so everything just accumulates.   

In the jsui version Darwin is sending a pattern(pop_group) > matrix out.  I don't understand why this is working in the jsui version and not the offscreen version.  Anybody know?

Hello, I need some help to fix an issue when I try to load dynamically a patcher into a poly~. When I do so, 4 times out of 5 Max crashes and I get the exact same crash report, seemingly involving the poly~ object itself.

All my patches are in the same folder (dummy poly~ and patchers) and they all have the same number of inlets / outlets.

Also when moving around the poly~ object in the main patch it suddenly gets more inlets that it's supposed to have, that's pretty confusing.
