For anybody that has played around with it using hann windowing in an RNBO fft is quite difficult for a newbie. I have played around with all the available fft patches from cycling using hann windowing and none of them use any more than a dual overlap. If you play a regular audio file through these examples you get noticeable distortion no matter what you set your audio settings vector size to. If you use just a single fft process with hann windowing(and yes the windowing is also declared in my ~ifft)  the audio is unintelligible. I have used the given dual overlap fft~ 512 512 0 and fft~512 512 256 and it gets a little better. In the fft docs for RNBO it says you can abstract the process with more overlaps by changing the fft arguments, and yes my ifft~ is set correctly and taking in both outputs both real and imaginary from the fft. I just don’t know what arguments to give these further abstractions

I imagine with an overlap of 4 the audio might get better but being so new to this I don’t know what arguments to give anything I try sounds unintelligible like adding an fft~ 512 512 1289sounds horrible. As I said the dual hann is getting closer but riddled with distortion. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to recreate the patcher below in RNBO. It's basically a drum sequencer with conditional triggering, but it uses polybuffer~ to trigger random sounds from a loaded folder of any length . I use this patch a lot, so it makes sense for me to try to send this one first to RNBO world, as I would love to have it in hardware version with Raspeberry Pi. I am a huge noob with RNBO.

I looked at the Exp Polyphony Drum Sampler here :

 that does almost the same thing, but it seems to be setup for only six files and uses a polybuffer from the Max patcher which, if I'm not mistaking, will no be available once I export my patch to a VST or AU target for example. Is there a way to say to the export target : load a folder, and make a list with all the files paths in it, and then use those paths to dynamically change the buffers content ?

Also, I tried to export the Exp Polyphony Drum Sampler to AU in order to test it with Logic Pro but even if it's properly installed and recognized by Logic I cannot load it. Is this due to sample depencies ?

I'm using the following to find the phase in radians of a sinewave ( but it realy can be anything ) to implement a phase shifting on a signal. 

[ hilbert~ ] (r, i)-> [ expr~ atan2(r, i) + pi ]

At lower frequencies this gives visible phase wrapping in a scope.

However these become very minor the higher the frequency gets.

Visually and by ear ( on a tone ) it seems like it's not worth to spend CPU on unwrapping the phase as RNBO's as the hilbert and atan2 functions seem to be tweaked to work well in the audible spectrum, but is this the case, or is unwrapping advisable ?

Hi, I compiled a simple test patch. Is just a phasor object connected to the output and also a buffer playing a short wav file. The patch works fine on the PC where I wrote it, and also works well if I export it from the RNBO app on the PC directly to the Pi.

I wanted to change the source code and then compile it directly on the Pi, I haven't changed the source yet as I just wanted to test the compilation process. I used the github template and compiled the patch in the Raspberry Pi but when I run the resulting program, the audio drops constantly. I tried setting the priority to the highest and even changing permissions to run in realtime ( chrt -f 99) but the problem persists. I'm also curious how the rnbooscquery is able to run in priority level 20 while running without drops, with patches that have much more complexity. Are there some compilation flags I'm missing for the Pi? or considerations on how to run the process?

The objects cannot be found, no autocompletion suggestions, the package manager offers

I know I'm able to communicate with my instance on the Raspberry Pi: I can send a parameter to the synth at rnboplay.local:1234 with something like:

and see the slider change in the web interface, and hear the result.

However, when I try to add a listener with 

I would expect parameter data coming out of [udpreceive 8003] when I make changes in the web interface on the instance or when I send a parameter over osc as above.  

Additionally, using the above "add" commands, I'd expect changes in the JSON when I load the URL rnboplay.local:5678/rnbo/listeners/entries but it remains the same before I added any entries.  Similarly, the osc command "/rnbo/listeners/entries" doesn't return any data. 

Any help would be appreciated. It just seems like the listeners aren't working.

I just upgraded to Max 9, so this is a fresh install (9.0.0) of Max and RNBO (1.3.3).

This is the first time I'm trying RNBO so I cannot say if the problem is related to this specific release... but I can barely do anything with it so far:

- I'm working on Windows 11, with a RME Fireface UC. OS and drivers are up-to-date.

- by default I'm using the RME and ASIO drivers, but the problem is the same if I try other drivers (MME...), so I don't think it is hardware or driver related

- from a fresh patch, I just add a RNBO~ object

- in the RNBO~ subpatch, as soon as I put 

 MIDI input object, compilation freezes and Max crashes within a couple of seconds. 

i.e. I can put a metro, midiout, noteout, param... no problem. 

But as soon as I put a midiin or notein, compilation will fail and Max will crash.

- the problem occurs both with auto-compile on and off (if off: crash will happen a couple of second after I trigger compilation)

- if I place my objects, save the RNBO patch before compiling, quit Max and reload my patch, it will crash a few seconds after I place the object (and, I guess, attempts to compile in the background)

I am probably not the only one trying to use MIDI in RNBO 😅

Howdy all. I just got into RNBO this week and I've been having an issue wherein patches I render as VSTs do not produce audio. This screenshot of my Ableton session is my best attempt at showing what's wrong without an audio example. In Ableton, after every plugin in the chain, there's a measure of volume (the green monitors), and as you can hopefully see my RNBO plugin doesn't get any output. There is no sound, no levels, nothing.
